How is Hymdal different from Bitly or similar tools?
Hymdal is built for access control and programmable routing, not just shortening. You can geo-block, expire links, route by device, and stream click events — none of which consumer shorteners support.
Can I use my own domain?
Yes. Add a custom domain via a single CNAME record. Full SSL provisioned automatically. All plans support at least one custom domain.
How fast are the redirects?
p99 latency under 100ms globally. Links resolve at the edge, close to the user — rules are enforced in memory without a database round-trip.
Is there an API?
Full REST API with OpenAPI spec, a TypeScript SDK, and a CLI. Create, update, expire, and retrieve analytics for any link programmatically.
How does access control work?
Each link can have rules: expiry date, max click count, allowed geo regions, IP allowlists, and device type restrictions. Rules are evaluated at the edge on every request.
What data do you collect on visitors?
We log IP (truncated), country, device type, browser, referrer, and timestamp. No cookies set. No fingerprinting. All data is stored in your workspace and exportable.
